From the Directors
Welcome! The Rocky Mountain Center for Musical Arts (RMCMA) is your community music school, offering lessons, classes, concerts, events, and other musical happenings. The dream of two graduate students, (co-founders and directors Kathy Kucsan and Peggy Bruns) the RMCMA opened in the fall of 1996 to 13 registered students. Nearly five years later, we now serve over 550 students through lessons, classes, workshops, and ensembles.
For the first three years, the RMCMA operated at 111 West Cannon, an historic (1907) church building. For two of those years, rent was donated by the building's owners. In June of 1999, the RMCMA was given an anonymous gift of $350,000, earmarked for the purchase of our current location at 200 East Baseline (the former First United Methodist Church). The RMCMA has been happily housed at the Baseline location since January of 2000.
We attribute our growth due to an amazing, supportive community. We watch you come here to learn, play, sing, perform, listen, and grow--it has been an incredible first five years. We look forward to even more growth and expansion. A new youth orchestra, the growing concert band and community chorus, expanded student recitals, the sixth annual production of Amahl & the Night Visitors and KidSing! are some of the highlights we'll experience this coming year. We hope you'll join the RMCMA family, and experience Music for All...For Life!®
